The Catalans are currently sixth in the La Liga table and Xavi Hernandez and co. have a lot of work to do if they are to turn this season around. The club are also actively scouring the transfer market for players who can improve their squad. They are also looking to offload some deadwood this month. Spain’s Guardia Civil police detained 12 senior officials and raided three Catalan regional government offices on Wednesday. The national government and Spain’s constitutional court have both said a referendum on Catalan independence due to take place on October 1 is illegal and should not go ahead. There was no such action taken by the Spanish government before the last referendum in November 2014, however, this time Catalan leaders have revealed that they will declare independence within 48 hours of the final result if there is a majority ‘Yes’ vote....

The France international is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until June 2022, but has been linked with a move away in recent weeks. Barcelona became the World Champions after beating River Plate 3-0 in the Club World Cup final to win their fifth trophy of the year, while Real Betis managed a 0-0 draw at home against Sevilla. Luis Enrique’s team will be hoping to return to winning ways in the league after dropping points against Deportivo La Coruna in their last league game....

What will make it even tougher for La Blaugrana is that Real Madrid have not lost in 32 games, and in Zinedine Zidane, they seem to have found a manager who understands the resources at his disposal and the best way to use them. But, with the calibre of the squad that Barcelona have at their disposal, it is safe to make the assumption that Los Blancos will take nothing for granted....

Rio Ferdinand wants Sancho and Bale Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Manchester United should try and sign both Gareth Bale and Jadon Sancho in the summer as the Red Devils can afford both. Adama Traoré, a Catalonia player of Malian decent, is one of the living examples of that.
